Porcelain care

The age-old question of "dishwasher yes or no" depends somewhat on whether the pieces are newer or whether the set has already seen some years of use. In general, there is nothing wrong with cleaning in the dishwasher, provided it does not happen daily, the short programme is used, and liquid or powder detergent is used rather than cleaning tablets—otherwise the decoration may fade over time. It is important to open the dishwasher to allow the steam to escape; some dishwashers open automatically. Steam is generally the most aggressive element for glass, cutlery, and porcelain alike. Unfortunately, most damage to porcelain occurs at human hands when loading and unloading the machine.
